The Beauty Of Sue Macartney Snape’s PrintsBy dot
I went to an show in 2006, that was at the Lygon arms, Broadway. The exhibitor was Sue Macartney Snape who is probably better known for illustrating topical characters in the Telegraph, I think the section in the Telegraph was titled the “Social Stereotypes” column. I had sought to buy one of those Sue Macartney Snape prints at the exhibition but discovered myself in the infuriating circumstance of having no cash to spend.
I have since heard how fashionable her individual prints are with her caricatures avidly chased after by many members of high society. Personally I’m sure that a lot of the people Sue Macartney Snape paints have several of her caricature paintings secreted away somewhere in there home. Once again I digress, I went searching for a piece of her work online and found a few sites that allowed me to purchase pieces of her art.
I particularly liked the picture “collecting cuttings” with the gorgeous characters that she makes look so bright and happy among the trappings of an English garden reminding me of relatives getting their heads together over PTA fundraising ideas. I had Sue Macartney Snape’s artwork posted to me via the mail and it now has the best spot in my fitted kitchen. There was a restricted run on the prints of six hundred and each print was 22″ X 18″ un mounted. A picture framing company mounted and framed the print and was really pleased with the results.
Anyone that has not yet had the pleasure of looking at her work should check her out as she has a witty take on the weird hierarchy that is British society.
